Restaurant Review: Me & Billy

Ever since I moved to the Quad City area, I have been an avid fan of Downtown Davenport staple, Me and Billy. This quirky, charming restaurant has stolen the heart of countless QCA residents and looks forward to a prosperous future I am sure.

The business success is founded on co-owners and team. Billy, the restaurant’s namesake can be seen greeting every individual table at every service, every day. His parter-in-crime runs the front of house most nights or special events as needed. The two, together, make a dynamic team. There is a never an issue with cleanliness, food, service, or environment. The duo has seen to every detail and runs a tight ship (even on the busiest of days).

Billed as a “bar with food” this local eatery is packed from 11am-1am every day. Their menu is one of my favorites across the board in all of the Quad Cities. Their chef changes out and revitalizes menu staples seasonally and features “chef choices” in the burger and sandwich category which change day to day. This is one of the few restaurants where I have NEVER had a bad plate of food. Everything is cooked to order, served fresh, and tastes delicious. If you enjoy a cocktail with your meal, you need to check out their beverage selection. Once again, the bar staff rotate the menu seasonally to help pair the beverages with each meal option being offered. There are also GREAT drink specials there each day of the week so that even though the cocktail tastes like it should break the bank, it won’t.

One of the best parts of this establishment is how it has embraced being part of the Quad City culture. Fun Fact: Davenport, IA is home to the 2nd longest St. Patrick’s Day parade IN AMERICA. Billy has already decked out his restaurant in Irish gear and is promoting specials and Irish food for the whole week leading up to it. During the annual Street Fest in July following the Bix 7 Race, Me & Billy sponsors free outdoor music and seating for patrons to enjoy as they hop from spot to spot. It’s one thing to be great business, it’s another to be a great community member. Here’s hoping that Me & Billy can see continued prosperity for years to come.
